Canadian Quality Assurance
Canada is recognized for producing top-quality pork, and is committed to maintaining that standard by the implementation of programs such as the Canadian Quality Assurance (CQA) program. CQA is an on-farm food safety requirement for swine producers providing consumers with a quality pork product. It allows producers to demonstrate sound production practices in the way pork is produced.
As per the requirements of the program, producers must meet a set of requirements that include protocols, procedures, records and questions. At SHP, all our veterinarians are recognized CQA program validators. We assist producers in preparing the required documents, and ensuring records are complete and up to date. We are then able to complete the validation.
CQA validations may occur at regularly scheduled herd visits, or as separate appointments. Partial validations are available, as we are flexible and can meet producers in our office to review documentation and records. We strive to make validation more convenient for you, to ensure there are no disruptions in the marketing of your hogs.
