New Services
Medication Benchmarking
SHP has begun a benchmarking service which will allow you to compare your farm vaccine, feed and water medication costs to other swine operations. This will allow us to better assess areas where efficiencies can be found.
Eventually, we hope to provide production benchmarking services to our clients as an aid in performance goal setting. We see the ability to assess your performance in relation to other farms in Manitoba as a valuable tool in today's competitive industry.
Boar Stud Monitoring
If you have an AI centre, or do any on-farm collection of semen for your own use, semen quality is of utmost importance. A breeding herd relies on a consistent, high quality semen supply for successful mating.
In conjunction with the Swine Vet Centre in Fairmont, Minnesota, SHP has developed an AI quality control monitoring program. Many Manitoba AI centres have begun submitting semen samples to have a non-biased, third party assessment of motility, dose volume, concentration and sperm count, and potential bacterial contamination.
